Introductory Emotional and Social Competency Training

The changing nature of work has created a labour market that demands high levels of emotional and social competencies across its spectrum. “Soft skills” have become an important new currency. Organizations who ignore their importance may find themselves grappling with high levels of both employee turnover and customer churn.

We created this short program after intense demand for “introductory” programming that would allow organizations to “get their feet wet” in soft skill education before adopting a larger emotional and social competency training strategy. Emphasis is on emotional intelligence fundamentals as well as developing interpersonal skills that apply to a range of workplace and lifestyle situations.

All participants receive complimentary emotional intelligence testing before and after the program. Participants will also get a personalized feedback report summarizing their emotional intelligence skills courtesy of the Emotion and Health Research Laboratory at Trent University.

Advanced Emotional and Social Competency Training for Working Professionals

As organizations redraw along project lines and employment becomes more transactional, working professionals need a broader range of skills to draw upon than the technical competencies that previously sustained them. Employers expect their workers at all levels to demonstrate leadership and resilience even in the face of overwhelming change.

We designed this intensive two-day workshop specifically with project professionals in mind. Our program places importance on developing adequate awareness to recognize and manage strong emotions in self and in others. We draw upon time-proven techniques from the realms of clinical psychology, law enforcement, biology and mathematics to teach participants how to extract facts and retain logic even under extremely stressful conditions.

All participants receive a complimentary 102 page, full-colour workbook to accompany each lesson, as well as emotional intelligence testing before and after the program. Participants will also get a personalized feedback report summarizing their emotional intelligence skills courtesy of the Emotion and Health Research Laboratory at Trent University.

Mastering the Behavioural Job Interview

“The best predictor of a person’s future performance is their past performance”. This is the premise behind behavioural interviewing. Popularized by large corporations as early as the 1970s, this job interview technique is appearing in hiring offices around the world in rapidly increasing numbers. Part of the reason for the increase in behavioural interviewing is the surge in project-oriented work environments as a result of sweeping structural changes to organizations.

We designed this short workshop to plug directly into existing work readiness and outplacement transition programs. Participants will gain insight into the behavioural job interview from both sides of the table and will gain a better appreciation of their own strengths such that they can answer anecdotal questions with ease.

Burnout Prevention for Project Professionals

Over the past twenty years, resources have become tighter, organizations have had to restructure to meet economic demands and the nature of work has become far more uncertain than ever before. As a result, certain workplace stressors previously considered benign or “easy to manage” have increased in frequency and severity, elevating the risk for mental health issues. In particular, burnout has become a global pandemic, costing organizations between $250-300 billion a year. A 2013 Gallup poll suggests that 70% of American workers are experiencing some form of workplace disengagement. Burnout costs everyone, although the ultimate cost is to the worker’s health.

We hear from our customers all the time about the real need for programming to address workplace disengagement and burnout. In response, we have designed this program to educate our customers about the importance of workplace resilience. We believe everyone has the right to take on a challenge; we also believe everyone should have the right tools before going in.

Reading Body Language

When we wish to send a message, we are accustomed to using speech. Verbal language is excellent at detailing specifics; however, our bodies sometimes (and unintentionally) say far more. The world’s most inspirational leaders know this and take great care to align their body language with the story they wish to tell. Doing so, however, requires awareness of posture, gesture, expression and many other simultaneous non-verbal signals that accompany the words that cross our lips. Mastering this art can yield substantial dividends in terms of the influence that you wield.

In this intensive full-day program, we step through presentations of the human body from the face to the feet exploring how each part of the body signals thought, emotion and intent. Special emphasis is placed on developing awareness of body language as well as how to use body language to influence and guide others’ behaviour.
