Advanced Emotional and Social Competency Training
for Working Professionals

Today’s working world is a very different place from the one we knew just twenty years ago. The blazing pace of technology means that companies have to change the way they hire and retain staff. For workers, this means that the technical skills they always relied upon are no longer enough to sustain them: project managers today need to sell, salespeople need to design, designers need to collaborate. Fortunately, many of these in-demand secondary skills are emotional or social in nature. That’s where we come in.

Assessment/Psychometric Services

At the heart of all of our programs lies unique instrumentation. Through our academic partners, we have developed a variety of emotional and social competency assessments that we use to back curriculum development for our public and private courses, as well as special projects for our corporate clients.

To date, thousands of people of all ages have completed these emotional and social competency assessments. As a result, we have a substantial bank of normative data against which to rank all of our clients’ test scores. In many cases, we have even split this database across professional lines, allowing us to rank individuals against their top-performing peers. This empirical approach towards curriculum development allows us to create programming that will not just enrich the emotional and social lives of our clients, but show them a path to greatness.

About Adaptimist Insights

At Adaptimist Insights, we offer evidence-based programming that empowers our clients and community partners to find courage and hope through stronger coping skills, stress management and cognitive reframing. Helping individuals learn about and develop their emotional intelligence generates an understanding of the gaps that might be holding them back from success.

We study and develop curriculum to enhance a wide range of human emotional and social competencies. Our mission is to become a world-class training company that gives people from all walks of life the skills they need to successfully and happily pursue their goals.

With roots in Trent University’s Emotional and Health Research Lab, Adaptimist was created and developed on statistical insights. Founder Geoff Crane, who worked in the lab as a graduate student, recognized that emotional intelligence training needed to go much deeper than was offered. As someone who experienced first-hand how stress in the workplace can lead to burnout, Geoff created Adaptimist with real challenges in mind and is focused on required skills, not just theories and academia.

Emotional intelligence encompasses the breadth of human emotional and social capability. Everyone has their own unique set of challenges in this area; becoming the person you want to be starts with understanding not just what holds you back, but why. Welcome to Adaptimist Insights, where better pursuits begin with better knowledge of yourself.

Case Studies with our Community Partners

We are very proud of the work we’ve done in the community. Thanks to our partners, we’ve had the opportunity to help a lot of different people overcome emotional and social challenges associated with the workplace. Our case studies range from performing statistical performance measurements to developing entire custom programs. If you would like to consider a project to measure and improve the emotional and social climate in your workplace culture, why not give us a call?

In addition to our community projects, we have been privileged to offer our assistance to clients, staff, participants and faculty at the following conferences and organizations.

About A. Geoffrey Crane

A. Geoffrey “Geoff” Crane is a Canadian public speaker, researcher and entrepreneur. As a pioneer in the field of motivational intelligence, he has written numerous articles on the importance of emotional and social skills in the workforce. Well-versed in the changing demands of today’s project-based work environments, Geoff spends his days helping leaders design and build a balanced repertoire of soft skills to help them achieve what matters most.

As with a lot of young professionals, when Geoff began his career he had little experience to draw from. His job as a project manager began almost accidentally – it was a new and poorly defined role within the business world and he was unwittingly thrown into it. Feeling lost, he was forced to navigate on his own through the uncertainty of managing large-scale projects and the interpersonal conflicts that arose between competing stakeholders.

Eventually, these difficulties led to burnout and he was laid off around the 2008 financial crisis. In the aftermath while unsuccessfully trying to find work, Geoff realized his passions needed rethinking and he decided to return to academia. Focusing on psychology, his studies centred on interpersonal relationships in the workplace, which led to the development of an emotional intelligence training program.

With Geoff’s personal story very much a part of the inspiration and essence of the training programs he developed, Adaptimist Insights was born.
